One or twice a year, I make this over the top ooey gooey chocolate bread pudding. What makes this one over the top you say, it is When Pigs Fly Chocolate Bread. The rich chocolate custard marries perfectly with the fresh baked artisan bread from Maine. It is a chocolate lover’s dream and I wish I could share a spoonful with you.

While I buy the chocolate loaf, just to make this dessert, bread puddings are a perfect way to use many different kinds of bread. There is no reason to throw out that extra loaf of bread, when you can make a hearty and simple dessert that is perfect for a fall or winter dessert. Depending on your bread, delicious ingredients that I like to add to the bread pudding include: maple syrup, orange zest, apples, cranberries, pecans and pears.

Do you make bread pudding and if so, what is your favorite flavor?
